The Train and its name : Indian Railways 

VIVEK EXPRESS is a weekly Express train Service started in 2013 to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda by the then Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee.

Enjoy watching this special Train video on the account of two great occasions the first being Swami Vivekananda's 153rd birth anniversary and  second its The Rail Zone's Birthday  as well, and we turn 3 today ( Started on 12 January 2013)  !

Special ALCo Pair KARNATAKA Express : Indian Railways

The South Western Railways prestigious train - The Legendary Karnataka Express always seen chugging with those mighty Twin double headed ALCos in the Southern Terrain is not so lucky when it comes to its Loco provider. 

The train has always been seen hauled by Diesel Locomotives from various other Shed's over the years such as Erode, Kazipet, Itarsi, Moula Ali, Gooty, Guntakal. How ever it has never been towed permanently by its own Home Zone Shed i.e. Krishnarajapuram (Diesel Loco Shed based out of Bangalore , South Western Railways).

Here is one extremely rare encounter  where the train is towed by its own Home Zone ALCo's , KRISHNARAJAPURAM WDG-3A ALCo Duos furiously chugging towards its last leg of journey with the 24 coached Legend bound to Bangalore City.

The same KJM ALCO's towed the New Delhi bound Karnataka Express  back in the evening.

The trains runs with Diesel power between  Bangalore upto Manmad and vice versa. Further the Train gets a Tughalkabad WAP-7 between Manmad  to New Delhi and vice versa. Electrification between Bangalore - Guntakal - Wadi - Solapur -  Daund - Manmad is in progress and once completed we can expect the train to run completely in Electric, though its not my personal wish :D
